Advantages of Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE)
Although basic hysterectomy is still an important option for some patients, every women should consider being seen at a center which can perform advanced fibroid treatments. The advantages of today’s minimally invasive fibroid surgeries can be enormous to a woman.
Uterine Fibroid Embolization is a non-surgical treatment for fibroid disease. What does this mean to a woman? This means minimal recovery time, return to work and life faster, and with less pain. Any surgery comes with risks but minimizing the trauma to the body significantly decreases the risks associated with treatment. There are no big scars, no hospital operating rooms, and no long recovery.
Treat All Your Fibroids At Once
By undergoing myomectomy, a women will have one or two of her fibroids removed. But the majority of women have numerous fibroids within their uterus. Removing the largest 1-2 will leave the other smaller ones more room to grow. Often women will have to return for another myomectomy, or are forced to have a hysterectomy because they ‘failed’ myomectomy. Embolization treats all the fibroids, even the smallest ones!
How many centers which perform UFE are truly out-patient? Most are not. Many require overnight stays in hotel rooms, or in the hospital (since hospitals get paid by insurance companies for the overnight stay). Fortunately, The Fibroid Treatment Center is completely out-patient and allows a woman to return home after their treatment to recover in the privacy and convenience of their own home. Our specialized center has all the staff, procedure rooms, recovery areas, and equipment for a womans procedure.
As early as 24 hours, and usually within 2-3 days women are feeling back to normal. No long recovery and rehabilitation is required after UFE. Within 3-4 days women are encouraged to return to the gym and the life that they enjoy. Other treatments can require weeks of recovery before the muscles and internal organs have healed.
Uterine fibroid embolization has been around for almost 20 years and millions of women have used UFE as a treatment for their fibroid disease. Plus, as discussed above in ‘non-surgical’, by avoiding surgery, women decrease the trauma to their body and can avoid complications like wound infections, bowel injury, bleeding, etc.
By choosing to have UFE at The Fibroid Treatment Center, a women can ensure comprehensive care for her fibroid disease. Our one location is used for your consultation, your MRI or ultrasound (if needed), your procedure, and your follow up. You won’t have to drive to 3-4 different locations for your care. We have everything you need.
Preserve Your Uterus
We hear from our patients everyday that ‘hysterectomy is my only option’. Unfortunately this just isn’t true. UFE can treat symptomatic fibroid disease without having to lose your internal organs.
